200 day position

 

Seeking qualified individual to assume responsibilities for direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school division policies, state laws, and professional standards of practice. Duties include program management, nursing services, collaboration, health education, and professional practice. Position is full time and is school based with possible occasional travel to other schools within the school division. 

 

Qualifications: 

• Must hold a valid Virginia nursing license; Registered Nurse (RN) preferred 
• Minimum of two years supervised nursing experience in community or child health prior to entry into school nursing practice 
• Must hold and maintain current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association) 
• Ability to provide appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral services for K-12 students within the school division 
• Ability to provide for the promotion and maintenance of health as well as the prevention of illness and injuries in order to facilitate the removal of health-related barriers to learning and to promote an optimal level of wellness for students and staff 
• Ability to work collaboratively with other school personnel, such as speech/language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and school psychologists and counselors to determine student eligibilty for special education services 
• Ability to model and promote a culture of high expectations for student and staff performance 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative-shared leadership environment
