Library Media Specialist - High School Level
200-Day Contract

 

Seeking qualified individual to provide library media specialist services at the high school level.  Reports to and is evaluated by the Principal. 

Length of employment is 200 days (10 months); contract renewable in accordance with School Board policy and the Code of Virginia. 

 

Qualifications: 

• Hold or be eligible for licensure (within 90 days of hire) in Virginia with appropriate endorsement 
• Demonstrated understanding of standards-based curriculum, research-based instructional strategies, and effective assessment practices 
• Ability to effectively align and manage resources, time schedules, and operational procedures to maximize opportunities for students 
• Ability to model and promote a culture of high expectations for student and staff performance 
• Understanding of continuous school improvement and Effective Schools research 
• Ability to disaggregate and use data to inform instruction 
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to work collaboratively with staff and administrators in the support of the school's literacy program 
• Experience working with diverse populations, including students with disabilities, English language learners, students who live in poverty, and students who are gifted 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with students to maximize opportunities for learning
