Part-Time Adult Education English Language Learner Teacher

Qualifications:

Hold or be eligible for licensure in Virginia with appropriate endorsement

• Provide a wide range of teaching strategies to a diverse student community based on student assessment, observation, implementation, and evaluation.
• Teach language acquisition classes to students who qualify as an English Language Learner by providing high quality instruction in English Language Development to adult students with focus in the areas of reading, speaking, listening, and writing.
• Seek to create a learning environment that is successful in helping students reach their personal, academic, and professional goals.
• Develop, implement, assess, and revise lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Establish and maintain standards of classroom behavior consistent with Martinsville City and adult education program behavior policies. Integrate technology into instruction and keep up to date on instructional technology.
• Assist in delivery of intake orientations and standardized assessments.
• Attend periodic staff meetings and participate in Professional Learning Communities and other professional development activities
