Instructional Coordinator- Martinsville Middle School

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Works with staff to implement a coherent curriculum aligned with state standards
• Promotes use of consistent instructional framework and evidence-based strategies
• Helps build assessment systems that are aligned with curriculum and instruction priorities
• Works collaboratively with teachers to develop aligned lesson plans
• Supports and facilities school-based professional development
• Assist in developing, coaching, and mentoring new teachers
• Helps staff secure, analyze, and interpret data for promoting instructional improvement
• Supports teachers in using data at the school level to improve individual student learning
• Assists teachers in building an interactive and engaging classroom
• Models instructional strategies and effective pedagogy with teachers in classrooms
• Makes regular classroom visits to support instructional improvement
• Meets regularly (weekly) with the principal to review benchmarks and established data points to assess student progress towards established instructional goals
• Provides feedback to teachers and staff regarding instructional implementation issues
• Serves as coach working with staff to improve their practice
• Provides customized professional development to meet unique student needs and support all subgroups
• Performs other related work as required by the Principal

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree with certification in core subject area.   
• Proven record of excellence as a classroom teacher with predictive characteristics of an outstanding administrator.
• Teacher leadership experience required.
